Leylah Fernandez Crowned Champion at the Japan Open
The tennis player Leylah Fernandez won the final of the Japan Open, after defeating the young promise Tereza Valentova with a score of 6-0, 5-7 and 6-3. This triumph represents the fifth title of her professional career.
Fernandez, who was participating in her eighth final, demonstrated a solid game from the start, dominating the first set in just 29 minutes. Valentova, for her part, managed to react in the second set, showing a notable improvement and tying the match by breaking Fernandez’s serve in the twelfth game.
In the decisive set, Fernandez, currently ranked number 27 in the world, secured a crucial break in the fourth game. Then, the Canadian tennis player withstood the final attacks of the Czech player to secure her second title of the season, adding this victory to the one obtained at the WTA 500 D.C. Open in July.
